On Buying Used Copies

A used copy carries more information than a new listing can usually show. Condition matters, but so do edition, cover, paper, translation, inscription, and the small evidence of how a book lived before it arrived on the shelf.

Some copies are best as clean reading copies. Others matter because of a jacket, a printing, a note, or a binding that belongs to a particular moment. The difference is not always about rarity. Sometimes it is about the copy feeling right for the book.

KARABURMA treats used books as objects with context. We try to describe them clearly, photograph them plainly, and keep the catalogue edited enough that each listing has a reason to be there.
